Miss Creole Des Iles International 2015 - Debbie Horsman crowned Creole queen

Eighteen-year-old Debbie Horsman is the winner of the first Miss Creole Des Iles International.
Debbie, who is studying office management at the Seychelles Polytechnic, was crowned on Saturday evening during the beauty pageant held at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS).
Speaking to the media after the crowning, Debbie said: “I was not expecting it, and I feel so emotional. I am so happy and honored that the judges have chosen me. I know I have to make Seychelles proud as the new Miss Creole Des Iles International,” she said.

She added that she wants to introduce in our schools our cultural dance with a modern touch.
“I will work closely with the School of Music to make this possible,” she said.

Marie-Antoinette Robert and Emma Denousse clinched the first and second princess titles respectively.
Several other prizes were on offer including additional benefits for the new Miss Creole Des Iles International 2015. She will represent Seychelles in the Indian Ocean and will become the Creole ambassador of the Creole speaking islands.

Other prizes went to Marie-Antoinette Robert (Miss Personality), Kimberly Joseph (Miss Photogenic), Shanorah Laurence (People’s Choice) and Emma Denousse (best evening wear).

Among the nine contestants, the six who made the final line-up were Emma Denousse, Marie-Antoinette Robert, Shanorah Laurence, Debbie Horsman, Kimberly Joseph and Marie-Eve Joe.

The contestants had to parade in beach, casual and evening wear.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, principal secretary for culture Benjamine Rose and other dignitaries.

In a short address to the contestants Minister St Ange said: “For this first Miss Creole Des Iles International, let’s all appreciate the beauty of Seychelles, and tonight we will crown a new ambassador for Seychelles. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture will support that campaign.”
